TWO YEARS OF INVESTING IN AMERICA THROUGH PRESIDENT BIDEN’S CHIPS AND SCIENCE ACT
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Building Back Together Communications Director Blake Goodman released the following statement on the two-year anniversary of President Biden signing the CHIPS and Science Act into law:
“Over the last two years, the CHIPS and Science Act has empowered the Biden-Harris Administration to make historic investments in domestic chip manufacturing. By strengthening American supply chains and designating tech hubs across the country, this landmark law will lead to the creation of good-paying, union jobs for thousands of workers — solidifying the United States’ role as a global leader in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing. And it’s working!
“Thanks to this landmark legislation, the United States has already seen $395 billion in new semiconductor and electronics manufacturing investments. That means more jobs, more investments in our communities and the revival and onshoring of a manufacturing industry that we invented.
“Innovation under the CHIPS and Science Act goes beyond manufacturing — this landmark legislation also requires companies to improve child care access — boosting workforce retention and encouraging more women to join the field.
“Under the leadership of President Biden and Vice President Harris, these transformative, bipartisan investments in our communities have become a reality. Building Back Together applauds the administration’s efforts to revive chip manufacturing in the United States and the job opportunities these investments have created for hardworking Americans nationwide.”
