STATEMENT ON THE PASSAGE OF A CONTINUING RESOLUTION FROM BUILDING BACK TOGETHER

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to Congress passing a continuing resolution and avoiding a partial government shutdown, Building Back Together Executive Director Mayra Macías released the following statement:

“For the second time in as many months, Democratic leaders in Congress joined forces to avert an unnecessary and damaging government shutdown. Despite ongoing disregard from MAGA Republicans for the harm to American families that would come from a shutdown — like forced cuts to SNAP, agriculture programs, and more abortion restrictions — Congressional Democrats and allies have stood unified and resolute to prevent such a catastrophe.

“President Biden, Majority Leader Schumer, Minority Leader Jeffries, and their Congressional allies have once again shown true leadership and demonstrated their commitment to delivering relief for hardworking families. We wish Congressional Republicans could say the same.”
