STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT BIDEN’S STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS FROM BBT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DANIELLE MELFI

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Building Back Together Executive Director Danielle Melfi released the following statement after President Biden’s State of the Union address:

“Under President Biden’s leadership, the state of our union is strong and our best days lie ahead. He has centered the needs of working families since day one, creating good-paying union jobs, safer communities, and greater opportunities for all Americans. The Biden-Harris Administration is investing in places and people that have historically been left behind – delivering policies that grow our economy from the bottom up and middle out, not the top down – and the impact is already visible across the country.

“President Biden is going to keep fighting for the interests of working families – including by opposing extreme MAGA policies to cut Medicare and Social Security and enable wealthy tax cheats. His administration will continue to work across the aisle on common-sense solutions to unite the country, including lowering the cost of essentials like child care and housing and taking action on policing and immigration reform. When President Biden talks about building an economy that works for Main Street, not Wall Street, this is what he means. His record speaks for itself: the state of our union is strong – and will only grow stronger under his leadership in the years to come.”
