STATEMENT ON POTUS SIGNING CONTINUING RESOLUTION FROM BUILDING BACK TOGETHER

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to President Biden signing the continuing resolution (CR) passed by Congress and avoiding a partial government shutdown, Building Back Together Executive Director Mayra Macías released the following statement:

“Once again, President Biden, Leader Schumer, Leader Jeffries, and allies in Congress rallied together to save us from an unnecessary and destructive government shutdown. Despite MAGA Republicans’ continued disregard for the harm that a shutdown would bring to American families, Congressional Democrats have remained united and steadfast in their efforts to prevent such a disastrous outcome.

Thanks to the leadership of President Biden and allies in Congress, families who depend on critical government services won’t be left in the dark worrying about how they will make ends meet. Government employees won’t have to work without pay, and small businesses that make up the backbone of our economy will have faith that their government continues to have their back.

President Biden and allies in Congress have taken seriously the responsibility of governance and will remain focused on delivering relief for hardworking families. Today’s victory is a testament to their resolve and commitment to serving the American people.”
