STATEMENT ON IMMIGRANT HERITAGE MONTH FROM BBT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DANIELLE MELFI
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Building Back Together Executive Director Danielle Melfi released the following statement in recognition of Immigrant Heritage Month:
“This month, we celebrate the generations of immigrants who have shaped our nation since its founding, and commit to expanding opportunity and access for all who call the United States home. The fundamental promise of our country is that we are all created equal – and all deserve the opportunity to create a better future for ourselves and future generations. President Biden and Vice President Harris are committed to ensuring our nation lives up to that promise.
“Since taking office, President Biden has taken action to ensure that our immigration system is accessible and humane – including lowering barriers to expand access to resources for immigrant communities and extending Temporary Protected Status for vulnerable migrant populations around the world. He has further called on Congress to pass long-overdue legislation to comprehensively reform our immigration system – including the bill he sent to Congress on his first day in office that would provide a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, TPS recipients and farmworkers. The Biden-Harris Administration stands in solidarity with immigrant communities this month and every month, and will continue working to ensure our nation lives up to the promise of equal opportunity and justice for all.”
