STATEMENT ON HOUSE VOTE TO MOVE BUILD BACK BETTER ACT FORWARD FROM BUILDING BACK TOGETHER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DANIELLE MELFI

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Building Back Together Executive Director Danielle Melfi released the following statement on the procedural vote to advance the Build Back Better Act, which polling has consistently shown to be deeply popular with Americans from across the political spectrum:

“Today, America took an important step forward with the House vote to advance the Build Back Better Act. It’s clear that there is more urgency than ever to pass this bill without delay. Leaders in Congress must act now to pass this transformative legislation that will cut taxes for working families, lower the cost of things families depend on like health care, prescription drugs, and child care, create millions good-paying jobs, tackle the climate crisis, invest in a just and humane immigration system, rebuild our care economy, create educational opportunity, and reform our tax system so that the ultra-wealthy and big corporations finally pay what they owe. Under this bill, no American making under $400,000 a year and no small businesses will see their taxes go up.

Together, the Build Back Better Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal will grow the economy from the middle out, create millions of good-paying jobs, and make our country more competitive so that the United States is positioned to win the race for the 21st century. We look forward to both pieces of legislation moving swiftly to the President’s desk.”
