STATEMENT FROM BBT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DANIELLE MELFI AFTER SENATE PASSAGE OF PACT ACT
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Building Back Together Executive Director Danielle Melfi released the following statement following the U.S. Senate passing the Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Honoring Our PACT Act, which expands benefits for service-connected health issues, including funding for veterans exposed to toxic burn pits:
“Today’s vote fulfills our nation’s sacred promise to provide essential health care to those who served America in uniform abroad. The PACT Act will save lives and expand access to care for countless veterans in need – and we are encouraged to see the bipartisan support it received in the Senate today.
“Yet there is no reason that this bill should not have passed last week, when 41 Senate Republicans chose to play politics and vote against it, delaying care for our veterans. Today’s vote is a victory for veterans and their families, and it comes not a moment too soon.”
