NEW POLLING: VAST MAJORITY OF AMERICANS SUPPORT POTUS’ PLAN TO STRENGTHEN MEDICARE

Americans trust President Biden more than Republicans in Congress to protect their Social Security and Medicare by a 14-point margin.

President Biden’s cost-cutting agenda remains popular, with Americans in favor of the Inflation Reduction Act by a 45-point margin.

WASHINGTON, D.C. —  Today, Navigator Research released new polling that shows President Biden’s plan to fund Medicare for the next generation – fully paid for by making the ultra wealthy pay their fair share, without raising taxes on anyone making less than $400,000 a year – is broadly popular across the country. 76% of Americans support raising taxes on the ultra wealthy and big corporations in order to strengthen Medicare, including 75% of independents and 64% of Republicans. President Biden is laser focused on strengthening Medicare and Social Security – essential programs that working people have paid into for decades.

“President Biden isn’t just protecting Medicare and Social Security, he’s strengthening them for decades to come,” said Building Back Together spokesperson Eileen Garcia. “The fact that Republicans in Congress disagree – and have called for cuts to these essential programs – proves just how out of touch they are with working people. As this poll shows, the vast majority of Americans value Medicare and Social Security and want them to be protected for future generations. It’s clear: President Biden can be trusted to stand up for the interests of hard working Americans. Republicans in Congress can’t.”
