NEW POLLING: MAJORITY OF AMERICANS SUPPORT PRESIDENT BIDEN’S ECONOMIC AGENDA, PLAN TO LOWER COSTS

Majority believe President Biden’s economic policies will combat rising prices

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Navigator Research released new polling that demonstrates broad support for President Biden’s economic agenda across the political spectrum. The President’s budget, which he announced yesterday, includes broadly popular policies to lower costs and combat inflation, including ensuring the wealthiest and large corporations pay their fair share. President Biden continues to fight for legislation to further lower the cost of living, including taking action to lower prescription drug prices.

The vast majority of Americans are backing President Biden’s plans to bolster our economy and cut costs for American families as Putin’s war of choice in Ukraine continues to strain global markets. Meanwhile, Republicans in Congress are endorsing measures that would hike taxes on more than half of Americansjack up costs including health care prices and premiums, and openly admit they would never stand up to Big Pharma and pass legislation to bring down the cost of prescription drugs.

New polling from Navigator Research reveals the popularity of President Biden’s economic agenda:

  • 67% of Americans support the President’s economic agenda.
    • 89% of Democrats support the President’s economic agenda.
    • 66% of Independents support the President’s economic agenda.
    • 42% of Republicans support the President’s economic agenda.
  • Support for President Biden’s economic agenda is particularly high among Black Americans, with 78% of Black Americans in favor of his cost-cutting policies.
  • The Biden economic agenda is also broadly popular among union members or those who live with a union member, 75% of whom said they support President Biden’s plans.
  • The most popular policies in President Biden’s agenda include giving Medicare the power to negotiate lower drug prices, putting a cap on insulin costs, and raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans and large corporations.
    • Allowing Medicare the power to negotiate lower drug prices is supported by a +72 point margin.
    • Capping insulin costs is supported by a +72 percent margin.
    • Ensuring billionaires and large corporations pay their fair share is supported by a +62 point margin.

In contrast, Republicans in Congress are endorsing measures that would hike costs and taxes for families across the country, and continue to oppose legislation to bring down prices of prescription drugs.

  • Newsweek: ‘In February, Scott, who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee, released an ‘11-Point Plan to Rescue America,’ which proposed that, ‘all Americans should pay some income tax to have skin in the game, even if a small amount,’ noting that, ‘currently over half of Americans pay no income tax.’”
