STATEMENT FROM BBT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DANIELLE MELFI AFTER PRESIDENT BIDEN SIGNED THE INFLATION REDUCTION ACT
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Building Back Together Executive Director Danielle Melfi released the following statement after President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022:
“The Inflation Reduction Act President Biden signed today is an unprecedented investment in America that tackles some of the most important issues families are facing. This legislation means families can get the health care and prescription drugs they need at prices they can afford; lower energy bills and more breathing room for the middle class; helping the US cut climate pollution by nearly half by the end of the decade; and big corporations finally pay their fair share in taxes.
“The Inflation Reduction Act is the culmination of months of negotiations and decades of advocacy, and we celebrate all those who made their voices heard and pushed Congress to take action. Many doubted this kind of landmark legislation could get passed in the face of unanimous opposition by MAGA politicians in Congress — who chose to side with big special interests — but President Biden never wavered from his commitment to getting this done and delivering for the American people. With his signature today, President Biden is bringing down costs for families, tackling the climate crisis, and making our tax system fairer – historic action that working families will feel the benefits of now and for years to come.”
