NEW: NEVADA DESIGNATED AS A REGIONAL TECH HUB THANKS TO BIDEN-HARRIS ADMINISTRATION
WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Monday, the Biden-Harris Administration announced that Nevada — along with 31 other sites nationally — will become a national Innovation and Technology Hub through the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration. The Nevada Lithium Batteries and Other EV Material Loop, led by the University of Nevada, Reno, will invest in Nevada’s lithium — a critical component for rechargeable batteries — extraction, processing, manufacturing and recycling.
“There’s no doubt about it: President Biden is doubling down on his commitment to Nevada workers and the Nevada economy with the Biden Administration’s tech hub at the University of Nevada, Reno,” said Mayra Macías, Executive Director of Building Back Together. “The Nevada Lithium Batteries and Other EV Material Loop is a major investment in the technology and manufacturing we need to grow our nation’s economy for decades to come.”
