STATEMENT ON POTUS SIGNING EXECUTIVE ORDER ON ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE
WASHINGTON, D.C. — After President Biden signed an executive order today advancing environmental justice and establishing a new Office of Environmental Justice in the White House, Building Back Together Interim Executive Director Mayra Macías released the following statement:
“All people should be able to live in neighborhoods safe from pollution, with access to clean water, and protected against extreme weather. President Biden is dedicated to making that a reality. Since taking office, he has championed the most ambitious environmental justice agenda in U.S. history – including by ensuring that 40% of key climate investments go to underserved communities. Today’s executive action builds on this progress, making sure that these communities – an overwhelming number of them Black and Latino – play a central role in the implementation of federal investments.”
Mayra Macías is the Interim Executive Director of Building Back Together, leading the organization’s work alongside partners to educate Americans on the positive impact of the Biden-Harris legislative agenda.
