NEW DATA: PRESIDENT BIDEN’S AGENDA IS INVESTING IN PENNSYLVANIA

459,000 new jobs, $1.5 billion in private sector investments, and 297,000 new business filings under President Biden’s “Invest in America” agenda

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A new fact sheet released by the White House on Thursday shows President Biden’s “Investing in America” agenda has created 459,000 new jobs, spurred over $1.5 billion in private sector investment commitments, brought unemployment down by over 3%, and fueled small business growth in Pennsylvania, with 297,000 new business filings over the last two years.

On President Biden’s watch, over $1.5 billion in private sector investments is headed to Pennsylvania:

  • Croda is investing $133 million in Clinton County to build a biomanufacturing facility that will expand the company’s capacity to produce new complex therapeutic drugs.
  • Goonies Solar is investing $250 million into new solar engineering designs that will generate clean, renewable electric power – enough to serve 33,000 Pennsylvania households annually.
  • Encina is investing $1.1 billion to build a new advanced manufacturing facility in Point Township.

Thanks to President Biden’s economic plan, $8.3 billion in funding for 181 projects across Pennsylvania have already been announced, including:

  • The Lehigh Valley International Airport was awarded $5 million to construct a new screening checkpoint that will make travel faster and more convenient for passengers.
  • Communities around the Cowanesque Dam will benefit from $2.6 million that was awarded to repair deteriorated critical concrete structures in spillway walls and slab at the dam.
  • The Philadelphia Regional Port Authority was awarded $20.3 million to construct a new warehouse with rail access, employee parking, and loading docks, and to modernize other features.
  • The City of Pittsburgh was awarded $11.3 million to fund improvements in the Hill District, an area disconnected from economic opportunities in the Pittsburgh business district.
  • The City of Pittsburgh also invested $17.5 million in American Rescue Plan funds to remove 750 lead service lines, allowing the city to meet its goal of replacing all lead service lines in the city by 2026.

And President Biden’s cost-cutting agenda saves Pennsylvania families money:

  • Over 2,547,000 Pennsylvanians on Medicare have access to free vaccines and capped insulin costs at $35/month. Next year, they’ll see their prescription costs capped at $2,000/year.
  • 371,000 Pennsylvanians have signed up for more affordable health coverage through the ACA Marketplace, saving them thousands yearly thanks to President Biden’s work to lower premiums.
  • Over 566,000 Pennsylvania households have access to lower-cost internet through the Affordable Connectivity Program.
  • New homeowners in Pennsylvania will save 13.5% on average on their yearly utility bills if state and local governments use new grants to update their building energy codes.

“The numbers are clear: President Biden’s agenda is delivering for Pennsylvania,” said Building Back Together spokesperson Olivia Eggers. “He’s investing in people and places that have historically been left out and left behind. We’re seeing new manufacturing facilities being built in communities across Pennsylvania, creating good-paying jobs that you can raise a family on. When President Biden says he’s fighting for working people, he means it – and he’s going to keep building on this progress to help Pennsylvania families, workers, and small business owners get ahead.”
