STATEMENT FROM BBT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DANIELLE MELFI ON POTUS VOWING CLIMATE ACTION, CALLING ON CONGRESS TO PASS LEGISLATION TO REDUCE COSTS

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Building Back Together Executive Director Danielle Melfi released the following statement on the importance of acting on climate and advancing legislation to reduce costs:

“We applaud President Biden’s unwavering commitment to the fight against climate change and celebrate his announcement today that he will take executive action to protect our environment and invest in clean energy if Congress fails to pass legislation to do so. We stand with the president in his ongoing fight to secure a clean energy future that lowers costs for families and creates good-paying jobs.

“We also join the president and other advocates in calling on Congress to pass legislation now that will bring down prescription drug prices and prevent painful increases in health care premiums for millions of families. This legislation is too important to be held hostage by Republicans in Congress who have sided with Big Pharma and other special interests to oppose efforts, including these, to bring down costs for everyday families. Congress must send these measures to President Biden’s desk before the August recess in order to deliver significant relief to families who need more breathing room in their budgets.”
