STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT BIDEN’S TOWN HALL UNDERLINING IMPORTANCE OF PASSING BUILD BACK BETTER AGENDA FROM BUILDING BACK TOGETHER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DANIELLE MELFI

“As the President emphasized tonight, passing the Build Back Better Agenda and Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal will together grow the economy to benefit everybody, not just those at the top. When passed, these critical pieces of legislation will make our country more competitive, create millions of good-paying jobs, lower the costs of everyday essentials, and deliver a historic tax cut for working and middle class families.

Since the President’s first day in office, he has prioritized building back better for everyday Americans, and worked to ensure that his Administration delivers for families on Main Street, in communities like his hometown of Scranton, rather than for executives on Park Avenue. It’s why he’s worked so hard to take on the pandemic, creating nearly five million jobs, getting shots in arms and kids back to school. And it’s why the President is working so hard to get these bills over the finish line, including traveling across the country to hear directly from Americans about their priorities and to share how this agenda will improve the lives of everyday people, just as he did tonight.

Here at Building Back Together, we will continue urging leaders in Congress to deliver on this much-needed legislation that is deeply supported by the American public. This is the agenda that 81 million Americans voted for when they voted the President into office, and it is this agenda that will ensure we build an economy that works for working people.”
