STATEMENT ON HOUSE PASSING BUDGET DEAL FROM BUILDING BACK TOGETHER

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Building Back Together spokesperson McKenzie Wilson released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed President Biden’s Bipartisan Budget Agreement:

Last night, the House of Representatives passed President Biden’s Bipartisan Budget Agreement, an important step to ensure our nation avoids what would be an unprecedented and unnecessary default on our economy.

“While this agreement is not perfect, it can’t be overstated how important it is to ensuring critical programs like Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security are protected. This package protects the key priorities and accomplishments from the past two years, including the Inflation Reduction Act’s historic investments that are creating good jobs across the country.

“We thank Leader Jeffries for his leadership in getting this vote across the finish line and applaud Senate Majority Leader Schumer’s quick actions to move this towards a vote late last night. We urge the Senate to sign this agreement into law as soon as possible.
