STATEMENT ON FEDERAL VACCINE POLICIES FROM BUILDING BACK TOGETHER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DANIELLE MELFI

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As the Supreme Court hears oral arguments on the President’s vaccine policies, Building Back Together Executive Director Danielle Melfi issued the following statement:

“President Biden has aggressively taken on the pandemic and jump-started our economic recovery. His Administration is implementing a historic vaccination campaign to keep Americans safe, including federal vaccination requirements that protect tens of millions of workers and patients. Public health and medical experts overwhelmingly support the science behind vaccines, and the importance of these requirements and legal experts from across the political spectrum also recognize the Biden-Harris Administration’s authority to implement these policies that are essential to protecting Americans and growing our economy.”

“These vaccine policies cover 100 million workers – two-thirds of the American workforce. We would not be able to reopen our economy, send our kids back to school, or safely get back to work without the protection of vaccines against serious illness and death. Under President Biden’s leadership, hundreds of millions of Americans have already gotten vaccinated, and thanks to these requirements, hundreds of thousands of Americans continue to get vaccinated every single day.”

“The bottom line is this: vaccines save lives, and these vaccine requirements are critical to strengthening our economy, protecting our workers, and ensuring we can take on this pandemic.”
