STATEMENT FROM BBT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DANIELLE MELFI AFTER HOUSE PASSAGE OF INFLATION REDUCTION ACT

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Building Back Together Executive Director Danielle Melfi released the following statement after the U.S. House passed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022:

“For years, the American people have called on their government to lower health care and prescription drug costs, protect our climate and lower energy bills, and make our tax system fairer. President Biden, together with Democrats in Congress, delivered. The Inflation Reduction Act answers these calls for action while also lowering the deficit. And it’s paid for by ensuring the largest corporations pay their fair share – while not raising taxes a single cent on working families.

“Today, despite united opposition from MAGA politicians – who would rather help line the pockets of special interests like Big Pharma, Big Oil, and other big corporations than lower costs for the middle class – House Democrats sided with working families and voted in favor of the Inflation Reduction Act. We applaud them for their support of this crucial legislation and look forward to seeing President Biden sign it into law, delivering on yet another key component of his cost-cutting agenda for working families.”
