POTUS TO CONTRAST HIS ECONOMIC VISION WITH MAGA HOUSE REPUBLICANS’

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, President Biden is in Accokeek, Maryland to meet with members of International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 77 and underscore the ways his agenda is creating opportunity for union workers. Unlike the MAGA alternative, which raises costs, sends jobs overseas, and serves the ultra wealthy and big corporations, the president’s agenda is lowering costs, creating jobs here at home, and spurring unprecedented manufacturing investments in communities that have historically been left out and left behind.

“The needs of hard-working people are at the heart of the Biden-Harris agenda, which lowers costs, brings supply chains home from overseas, and creates union jobs you can raise a family on,” said Building Back Together spokesperson Eileen Garcia. “President Biden knows that when the working class wins, we all win – and he’s fighting every day to make sure union members and their families have the opportunities they need to get ahead. His agenda is building our economy from the bottom up and the middle out, and the positive impact is clear in Maryland and nationwide.”

President Biden’s “Invest in America” agenda is delivering for working people and creating good-paying union jobs across the country.

  • Since President Biden took office, we’ve seen more than $435 billion in private sector manufacturing investments nationwide, including:
    • Over $200 billion in clean energy, electric vehicle, and battery investments.
    • Over $200 billion in semiconductor investments.
    • Roughly $15 billion in biomanufacturing investments.
  • 16 states have seen the singlelargest private sector investments in their history on President Biden’s watch.
  • These investments will lower costs and create good-paying union jobs in communities nationwide.

Today, the president will highlight historic investments in Accokeek and across Maryland to expand opportunity for working families.

  • Since President Biden took office, Maryland has seen a boom of private investments – over $1.6 billion.
  • This is in addition to $2.7 billion in federal funding for 55 infrastructure projects statewide.
  • On the president’s watch, 122,000 jobs have been created in Maryland, and the unemployment rate has dropped to 2.9% — down 3.5 points from January 2021.
