NEW DATA FOR PROGRESS POLLING SHOWS DEEP SUPPORT FOR BUILD BACK BETTER AGENDA

Continued evidence of broad support of Build Back Better Agenda as a whole, individual provisions, and ways to pay for the package

Washington, D.C. — New research from Data for Progress shows that President Biden’s Build Back Better Agenda continues to enjoy broad support from the American people. Voters in 12 key states give the Build Back Better agenda, which includes provisions to expand Medicare, lower the cost of healthcare, child care, and long-term care, invest in clean energy and extend tax cuts for families with children, majority support by at least a +15 percentage point margin.

Additional new Data for Progress research also showed that the American’s public’s support for reform that would lower the cost of prescription drugs — a key component of President Biden’s Build Back Better Agenda — is overwhelmingly popular with voters across the country. In every Congressional district and in every state, Americans support allowing Medicare to negotiate the cost of prescription drugs. Overall, 86% of voters support this plank of the Build Back Better agenda, and only 12% buy Big Pharma’s argument that this change would harm innovation.

This latest polling reflects earlier research that shows that the broader Build Back Better agenda is more popular than ever. Recent August polling from multiple groups including Navigator, Data for Progress, and Morning Consult consistently show that more than 60 percent of voters support the agenda. The immense support for the President’s agenda and its individual components comes as no surprise given that the historic legislation will create millions of good-paying jobs, lower costs, and cut taxes for everyday families.

“The immense popularity of President Biden’s plans — from investing in caregiving to lowering the cost of prescription drugs is evidence that our message is resonating because our priorities are the priorities of working families in this country,” said Building Back Together Executive Director Danielle Melfi. “We will continue to work to ensure the Build Back Better Agenda is successfully passed into law.”

This latest data adds to other research showing that the Build Back Better Agenda emerges from recess more popular than ever:
