ICYMI: BIDEN-HARRIS OFFICIALS CONTINUE “INVESTING IN AMERICA” TOUR TO HIGHLIGHT MANUFACTURING AND INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDING

WASHINGTON, D.C. — As part of the White House’s “Investing in America” tour last week, President Joe Biden visited Fridley, MN to visit Cummins Power Generation Facility where the company announced more than $1 billion in manufacturing investments across the country, and Vice President Kamala Harris visited Dalton, GA to celebrate Qcells’ commitment to bring 2,500 jobs to Georgia by 2024.

The “Investing in America” tour continues this week in Georgia, Kansas, Michigan, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania as senior administration officials tour across the country to highlight historic investments in infrastructure, manufacturing, clean energy, and more.

Addressing a crowd of hundreds at the Cummins Power Generation Facility in the north-metro suburb of Fridley, the president said his economic agenda has been key to spurring investments in industry, particularly in advanced sectors such as chip manufacturing. Since taking office, Biden has signed multiple bills investing trillions into the American infrastructure and economy, as well as clean energy, and he is touring the U.S. to promote what he says is his role in improving the U.S. economy.

Qcells announced in January 2023 that it is investing $2.5 billion to expand its solar manufacturing capacity in Georgia. Today, Vice President Kamala Harris, here in Dalton on the Biden/Harris Administration’s “Investing in America” tour, announced a historic commitment between Qcells and Summit Ridge Energy to deploy 1.2 gigawatts (GW) of community solar power, which will require the manufacturing of 2.5 million solar panels—the largest community solar order in American history.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced that the Department is investing $40 million to provide high-speed internet access for people living and working in rural areas in New Mexico. Today’s investments are made possible because of funding from President Biden’s historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which provides $65 billion to expand reliable, affordable, high-speed internet to all communities across the U.S.

The Gila River Indian Community will get up to $233 million in a historic agreement to conserve water, one that is expected to help keep water levels at Lake Mead from falling too low.
