COAST TO COAST: AMERICANS WEIGH IN TO SUPPORT BUILD BACK BETTER AGENDA
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Polling has consistently shown that the American people overwhelmingly support the Build Back Better Agenda, which would deliver for working and middle class families by creating millions of good-paying jobs, lowering the costs of everyday essentials from health care to child care, while ensuring the wealthiest Americans and large corporations finally pay their fair share.
“The Build Back Better Agenda and its provisions to create good-paying jobs, lower the costs of everyday essentials, and ensure the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share is deeply popular with the American public because it is urgently needed,” said Building Back Together Executive Director Danielle Melfi. “We’re seeing support from across the country as everyday people are asking their leaders in Washington to pass this legislation that will help build back better for working and middle class families.”
Coast to coast, from California to Maine, Americans are making their voices heard about why they support the Build Back Better Agenda. Read just a few highlights below:
Modesto Bee: Infrastructure deal and Build Back Better will boost Stanislaus jobs
“Stanislaus County is suffering from a climate emergency. Devastating wildfires rage across our state and blanket us with smoke, ranking the Central Valley as having some of the worst air quality in the country. This is why President Biden’s Build Back Better Act and its historic investments in fighting the climate crisis are urgently needed. This legislation will make big, bold investments in clean energy production, pollution-free transportation, and sustainable infrastructure. These proposals would tackle the climate-fueled drought and wildfire crises, reduce air pollution and create good-paying jobs in the Valley.”
WGME: Maine lawmakers, child advocates announce support for ‘Build Back Better’ plan
“Democratic lawmakers are pushing for more child care, and they’re backing the president’s plan to do it. With “Build Back Better” signs and stickers, a group of lawmakers and child advocates announced their support for the president’s budget. They say it includes money to make sure that no working-class family spends more than 7 percent of their income on child care. House Speaker Ryan Fecteau says it will not cost taxpayers making under $400,000 a year.”
The Record: Sherrill, Kim and Malinowski know Build Back Better is good policy and good politics
“Sherrill, Kim, and Malinowski understand New Jersey residents in the 11th, 3rd and 7th districts want change. They were part of a “blue wave” that helped flip the House of Representatives for the Democrats in 2018 after deeply unpopular GOP attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act. They were re-elected in 2020 in these former Republican strongholds because of their continuing commitment to protect people’s health care and tackle big problems through meaningful, impactful reforms. Their support for Build Back Better reaffirms this commitment. The reconciliation package greatly expands access to healthcare and prescription drugs. It also invests in American families through programs like national paid family leave, universal pre-K, housing and homeownership assistance, and funding for higher education. It addresses climate change, the digital divide, and long-standing economic and racial inequalities. Build Back Better is a long overdue reform package that could transform our state and country for generations to come.”
