BUILDING BACK TOGETHER LAUNCHES NEW ADS TO UPLIFT BIDEN-HARRIS ADMINISTRATION’S SUPPORT OF THE CUBAN PEOPLE
New digital and radio ads highlight President Biden’s condemnation of the Cuban regime’s silencing and repression of protesters
Washington, DC — Following historic protests in Cuba, Building Back Together is launching new ads this week forcefully denouncing the communist regime’s repression of protesters and reaffirming the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to advancing human dignity and freedom.
The nearly six-figure ad buy, which begins running this week in both Spanish and English across digital and radio platforms in South and Central Florida, is part of a broader Democratic coalition effort to support those protesting.
“Building Back Together understands the importance of engaging with the Cuban and broader Hispanic community in Florida, and remains focused on ensuring they know their concerns are being heard and acted upon by President Biden and Vice President Harris,” said Building Back Together Chief Strategy Officer Mayra Macías. “We support President Biden’s denouncement of communism and his resounding support for the Cuban people in their fight for freedom.”
The campaign follows the Biden-Harris Administration’s actions announced last week to hold the Cuban regime accountable through new sanctions for human rights abuses. The Administration also called for the swift release of peaceful protesters, and said it was collaborating with partners in the private sector to identify means of ensuring the Cuban people have access to information and the Internet. The White House is also re-staffing the U.S. Embassy in Havana and assessing the best means to ensure families can support one another through remittance payments.
In a statement last week, President Biden stated, “The United States stands with the brave Cubans who have taken to the streets to oppose 62 years of repression under a communist regime.” He continued: “Advancing human dignity and freedom is a top priority for my Administration, and we will work closely with our partners throughout the region, including the Organization of American States, to pressure the regime to immediately release wrongfully detained political prisoners, restore internet access, and allow the Cuban people to enjoy their fundamental rights.”
